Quentin Musty isn’t afraid to play with an edge.

Unfortunately sometimes, it comes at a cost. The San Jose Sharks prospect received a two-game suspension earlier this month for slew-footing a Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds player, dealing a big blow to the Sudbury Wolves.

So how’d he answer in his first game back? Five points on Friday – including his first career hat-trick – and three on Sunday. Don’t piss off the 6-foot-2 native of Hamburg, New York, because when he’s on his game, he’ll rip your goalie apart with one of the better offensive toolkits in the OHL.

With 10 goals and 22 points in 13 games, Musty has been extremely valuable for the Wolves. So much so that when when he missed four out of Sudbury’s five previous games heading into the weekend, the Wolves lost every single outing. After a solid World Junior Summer Showcase in August, Musty’s looking like a real threat to make USA’s roster for the main event next month, too.

He’ll start off this week’s prospect roundup, but we don’t have to go too far to find a good friend of his:

OHL

– Keeping things in Sudbury, how about Dalibor Dvorský‘s play since joining the team last month? The St. Louis Blues prospect struggled in the top Swedish league, failing to register a point in 10 outings. But in 13 OHL games, Dvorsky is up to nine goals and 19 points, putting him on a 90-point pace over 60 games. He’ll miss some action when he joins Slovakia’s world junior team, but Dvorský is playing as dominant of a game as we’ve seen. It’s precisely what we’d come to expect from a player with three years of pro experience, but it’s been good for Dvorský’s confidence, too. Plus, despite a recent touch stretch, Sudbury should still factor into the OHL title fight in a rugged Central Division.

– It was a busy week for Filip Mesar and the Kitchener Rangers, who split a four-game stretch 2-2 over the past week. He started it off with a three-goal, four-point effort over Erie before tallying another three points in the next two games. Mesar already has four 3+ point efforts since since Nov. 8, with the 19-year-old Montreal Canadiens prospect finding his groove after some wondered if he had fallen significantly down the depth chart. Habs fans, be happy.

WHL

– The Buffalo Sabres did the rest of the WHL a disservice by sending Matthew Savoie back to Wenatchee. Savoie has six goals and 12 points in just six games, putting him on pace for 96 points in 48 games. He was aided by a five-point performance over Spokane earlier this month, but he has points in all but one game so far. Despite his pedigree as one of the best CHLers over the past few years, it wasn’t a given Savoie was going to crush the competition, given he missed so much time due to injury this year. Clearly, he’s at the top of his game.

NCAA

– It hasn’t been an easy season for Nashville Predators prospect Alex Campbell in his first year with Northeastern University. Formerly of Clarkson University, Campbell, a stout setup man who also possesses a solid release, had two goals in a 9-2 win over RPI on Sunday, scoring on both shots he took. It marked his first points in three games, giving him three goals on the season. When you give him space, he’ll make things happen. Unfortunately, that hasn’t come by easily this year. You’ll take the little wins along the way.

– Jackson Blake has been on a bit of a roll recently for North Dakota, registering eight points in his past five outings. The Carolina Hurricanes prospect is up to 10 goals and 18 points, putting him on pace to crush his 16-goal, 42-point college freshman season. Blake continues to find ways to get creative and score at every level, with the 109th pick in 2021 proving to be a solid late-bloomer after not becoming a full-time junior player until his Draft+1 year.

AHL

– The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ crease is quite busy, with five goalies having made at least one start thus far. But Joel Blomqvist – the 21-year-old rookie from Finland – has been the best. He has posted a 6-3-1 record with a .926 save percentage, and he helped put a damper on Charlotte’s teddy bear toss game with a wild 44-save effort on Saturday. It’s still early days, but Blomqvist has the potential to take over Tristan Jarry’s reign one day with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

– Gee, who would have guessed Brandt Clarke could produce? After a bit of a false start to his North American pro career last season, Clarke ripped apart the OHL with an incredible 23 goals and 61 points in 31 games with the Barrie Colts – as a defenseman. This year, he’s up to 18 points in 17 games with the Ontario Reign, with 12 points in his last nine games. That includes three multi-point games out of his last four showings. He’ll play a big part on the power play for the Los Angeles Kings one day, but there’s no rush for the 20-year-old to move back up yet.

VHL

– It’s been quite the season so far for Philadelphia Flyers‘ seventh-rounder Yegor Zavragin. He has a 6-1-2 record in nine games with Mamonty Yugry of the MHL and has won all five starts in the VHL, too. Between the 14 games, he has three shutouts, too. Goals can be hard to come by in both leagues, but Zavragin has still been one of the best Russian goalies outside of the KHL all year.
