As is the norm following the NHL’s regular season, speculation grows on who teams will fill their head coaching vacancies with.

This year’s hot free agent is Craig Berube, the former St. Louis Blues coach who led the team to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup in 2019. The Alberta native was fired by the Blues in December of last year after missing the playoffs last season, and having a rough start to the 2022-23 campaign.

That has not stopped teams from looking at bringing in the veteran coach. Berube has had extensive dialogue with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils. He is reportedly en route to Manitoba to meet with the Winnipeg Jets’ brass on Tuesday.

Berube has been in the professional coach ranks since 2004, spending time in the American Hockey League with the Philadephia Phantoms and Chicago Wolves, while briefly serving as the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers from 2013 to 2015.

On Tuesday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss the potential suitors for Berube.

Frank Seravalli: He spent two days with the Leafs over the weekend, multiple days with the Devils…he’s got options. What if the Jets were the team to step up first and say, “This is our guy, we’re going with him.” It would really be quite a story.

Me, personally, I would rank them–New Jersey, Winnipeg, Toronto. It’s not that I would be afraid of everything that comes with the Toronto market. I just think they’ve got a lot of work to do with their roster. There’s going to be a lot of influx. Yeah, you could have the star player in Auston Matthews and William Nylander, or Jack and Luke Hughes and everything else coming in New Jersey.
