The Flames acquired Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin from the Hurricanes for Dougie Hamilton, Michael Ferland and Adam Fox.

The Hurricanes were reportedly far apart in their contract negotiations with Lindholm, who is an RFA. With no contract in sight, the Hurricanes elected to move on from the former No.5 overall pick (2013), who has averaged just 14 goals and 28 assists (42 points) over the last four seasons. Matt Cane of HockeyGraphs predicts a five-year extension worth $24.98M ($4.978M AAV) for Lindholm.

Lindholm has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury, but is expected to replace Ty Rattie in the lineup tonight vs. the Blue Jackets. Prior to getting hurt, Lindholm had a three-game point streak, picking up two goals and two assists. Lindholm has 13 points (4G / 9A) in 30 games this season.

Lindholm missed Saturday’s game in Tampa Bay, but head coach Bill Peters said Lindholm is “close” and could go through the morning skate on Tuesday. Lindholm has scored two goals with two assists in his last three games, but if he can’t go vs. the Devils tonight, Andrej Nestrasil will remain on a line with Jordan Staal.

Lindholm has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury, but will be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Canucks. Lindholm will skate on the top line with Jordan Staal and Joakim Nordstrom—he comes in with seven points (2G / 5A) in 23 games this season.

Lindholm has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury, but participated in Tuesday’s practice and travelled out west with the team. Monitor his status during Wednesday’s morning skate, but he should play on this trip.

Lindholm served as a healthy scratch on Saturday, but will be back in tonight in Anaheim. He will return to the top-line with Eric and Jordan Staal. He has 20 points (9G / 11A) in 48 games, which puts the 20-year-old just two points away from a new career-high.

On Wednesday, the Hurricanes recalled Elias Lindholm from Charlotte (AHL).

Lindholm had been reassigned to the Swedish team for the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Junior Championship. Lindholm scored two goals and added seven assists (9 points) in six games during the tournament, helping Sweden capture the silver medal. Carolina’s first-round selection, fifth overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, Lindholm has played 21 NHL games for Carolina this season, totaling seven points (3G / 4A).

Lindholm was with Team Sweden in Sweden for the World Junior Championships. Weather is making it difficult for him to get to Buffalo, but should he make it, he will likely be in the lineup on Tuesday. Lindholm was tied for seventh in tournament scoring with two goals and seven assists (9 points) in seven games.

Hurricanes head coach Kirk Muller says they are going to sit down with Lindholm to make a final decision, but it appears as if it is a guarantee that Lindholm will join the Swedish National team on December 22. He has three goals and four assists in 21 games with Carolina.

The Carolina Hurricanes have recalled Elias Lindholm from Charlotte (AHL).

Lindholm, 18, was selected fifth overall in the 2013 NHL Draft had one goal and one assist in 10 games with the Hurricanes before being sent to Charlotte. With the Checkers he posted a goal and two assists in six games. He arrives in town to help revive Carolina's struggling power-play. They rank 28th in the NHL with a 11.9% success rate on the PP. Chris Terry has been returned to the AHL to make room for Lindholm.

Lindholm had one goal and one assist with a minus-4 rating while averaging 11:39 TOI in 10 games with the Hurricanes. He was the fifth overall pick in this year's draft. He is going to the AHL where he will see a lot more ice-time and gain some valuable experience.
