The Carolina Hurricanes announced that they have placed forward Alexander Pashin on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

Pashin was oringally selected by the Hurricanes No. 199 overall in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft.

Pashin spent the 2023-24 regular season in Russia's top men's league the KHL where he tallied 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points in 60 games with Spartak Moskva. He added two goals and two assists for four points in 11 KHL Playoff contests as Moskva was eliminated in the Western Conference Quarterfinals by Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

The 21-year-old came over to North America in 2022-23 after the Canes signed him to a three-year entry-level contract in May 2022. Pashin played for the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) and tallied four goals and six assists for 10 points in 47 games.

Heading into the 2023-24 campaign, the Hurricanes did not have an active AHL affiliation agreement in place with Chicago and thus loaned Pashin to Spartak Moskva. If Pashin clears waivers he will become an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign with any club.
