NHL Hockey Player News

The Capitals have sent Cameron Schilling back to Hershey (AHL).

Schilling played on Friday vs. the Ducks, recording one shot and a plus-1 rating in 13:42. He was a healthy scratch last night with Mike Green returning to the lineup, so Schilling heads back to Hershey before the Capitals leave for their California road-trip.

The Sharks recalled Dylan DeMelo from Worcester (AHL) on Sunday.

DeMelo, 21, has registered four goals and 11 assists (15 points) in 45 games with Worcester this season. With Marc-Edouard Vlasic on IR, DeMelo could make his NHL debut at some point this week.

Dubnyk will start on Monday vs. the Canucks.

Dubnyk stopped all 18 shots that he faced in the Wild’s 1-0 shutout win over the Avalanche on Saturday. Is this guy for real? In nine games with the Wild, he is 7-1-0 with a 1.31 GAA, .948 SV% and four shutouts. Yep, four shutouts in nine games…Unreal. In two starts and one relief appearance vs. the Canucks, he is 2-0-0 with a 1.89 GAA and .950 SV% this season (1 start with MIN).

Hall (lower-body) has returned to Edmonton for further testing.

Hall has missed the last two games and his return to Edmonton on Sunday suggests that he will miss both Monday and Tuesday’s games on the East Coast. With the Oilers season in the dumps, they will not rush their star winger back into the lineup for no reason.

Taylor Hall
Andersen left Sunday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Andersen, who had allowed five goals on 22 shots, left last night’s game after the net fell on him halfway through the third period. Andersen was reportedly alert in the locker room after the game and coach Bruce Boudreau doesn’t believe the injury is serious. Expect an update on Andersen’s condition on Monday.

The Bruins recalled Niklas Svedberg from Providence (AHL).

Svedberg went 3-1-0 with a 2.76 GAA and .911 SV% in his four-game conditioning stint with Providence. Despite being back with the Bruins, they only have two games this week, so Tuukka Rask will likely start both of those contests.

The Maple Leafs reassigned Petter Granberg to Toronto (AHL) on Sunday.

Granberg was recalled as insurance for Cody Franson, who was a game-time decision for Saturday’s game. Granberg did not get into the game and Dion Phaneuf is expected to return soon so Granberg heads back to the minors.

Petter Granberg
Scrivens is expected to be between the pipes for the Oilers on Monday.

Scrivens allowed four goals on 33 shots in the Oilers loss in Calgary on January 31st. Viktor Fasth started the last three games, but it looks like it will be Scrivens tonight in New Jersey. He has yet to face the Devils this season, but Scrivens is 0-7-5 with a 3.36 GAA and .885 SV% on the road.

Ben Scrivens
Hiller will be in goal in San Jose on Monday.

Hiller was pulled after he allowed four goals on 24 shots in the Flames 4-0 loss to the Penguins on Friday. Despite the rough outing, he will make his seventh consecutive start tonight. In his previous six games he went 4-2-0 with a 1.93 GAA and .922 SV%. He made 28 saves in a 3-1 win over the Sharks last Wednesday.

Jonas Hiller
Smith will start Monday vs. the Blackhawks.

Smith allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Coyotes loss 3-1 to the Red Wings on Saturday night. Smith had a really good week, going 1-1-1 with a 1.30 GAA and .959 SV%, but has a tough start to this week with the Yotes in Chicago. In his first start vs. the Hawks, he allowed six goals on 51 shots in a 6-1 loss.

Mike Smith
Rask will start vs. Montreal on Sunday night.

Rask made 39 saves on 40 shots in the Bruins win over the Islanders last night. Despite the busy evening, he will start on back-to-back nights for the fifth time this season. He is 0-2-2 with a 2.55 GAA and .916 SV% in the first four. He is also 0-2-0 with a 3.99 GAA and .848 SV% vs. Montreal.

Tuukka Rask
Cormier will make his season debut on Sunday.

Cormier, 24, will play with Adam Lowry out with an illness. Cormier has registered 10 points (5G / 5A) in 24 games with St. John’s (AHL). He has one goal and four assists in 49 career NHL games.

Patrice Cormier
Pavelec leads the Jets onto the ice for warmups.

Pavelec allowed three goals on 33 shots in the Jets OT loss to the Canucks on Tuesday. After sitting on Friday, Pavelec will be back in goal tonight vs. the Avalanche. It will be his third start of the season vs. Colorado—he has went 1-0-1 with a 1.85 GAA and .918 SV% in the first two.
