Florida Panthers News

The Blackhawks have recalled Adam Boqvist from Rockford (AHL).

Boqvist was the No.8 overall pick in 2018 and has registered just one goal in six games with Rockford this season. He is an under-sized, offensive-minded defenseman that had 60 points (20G / 40A) in 54 games with the London Knights (OHL) last season. The Blackhawks continue to make a commitment to younger players, as Boqvist's promotion comes one day after they said Kirby Dach will remain with the team.

Bobrovsky will start Thursday in Calgary.

Bobrovsky allowed two goals on 25 shots in the Panthers win over the Penguins on Tuesday. It was Bobrovsky's best outing in a Florida uniform thus far and moved him to 3-2-2 with a 3.75 GAA and .878 SV% on the season. Tonight he faces a Calgary team that has lost two of their last three while scoring just 2.00 goals per game.

Ekblad (undisclosed) is not on the ice for warmups; will not play vs. the Penguins.

Ekblad was on the ice for the Panthers morning skate but did not come out for warmups. Ekblad is day-to-day with an illness, so look for him to be back in the lineup in Calgary on Thursday. Mark Pysyk will draw into the lineup for him tonight.

Aaron Ekblad
Bennett (lower-body) skated on his own on Tuesday; hoping to return on Thursday.

Bennett will miss his second straight game with a lower-body injury but the Flames are hopeful he will play Thursday vs. the Panthers. Even if he does play, the former No.3 overall pick should be left on free agency--he has just two points (1G / 1A) and is playing just 12:40 ATOI in nine games this season.

Barkov (upper-body) will play Tuesday vs. the Penguins.

Barkov left Saturday's game in Nashville but is good-to-go for Tuesday's game. This is huge news for the Panthers, who could be without their second-line centre, Vincent Trocheck. Barkov is still looking for his first goal of the season, having recorded just six assists in his first eight games of the season.

Bobrovsky will start Tuesday vs. the Penguins.

Bobrovsky gave up five goals on 41 shots in the Panthers' loss to the Avalanche last Friday. He was given Saturday night off, so Bobrovsky gets the nod tonight vs. Pittsburgh. His Panthers' career is off to an ugly start, going 2-2-2, 4.07 GAA and .872 SV% in his first six starts. The Penguins have won five of their last six games while averaging 3.83 goals per game.

Barkov (upper-body) returned to practice on Monday.

Barkov played just 1:55 TOI before departing Saturday’s game with an upper-body injury. Early reports were that Barkov was day-to-day but the fact that he was on the ice on Monday suggests that the Panthers’ No.1 centre could be available for Tuesday’s game vs. the Penguins.

The Kings have assigned Tobias Bjornfot to Ontario (AHL).

Bjornfot was the Kings' first-round pick this summer and played in the first three games of the season but was a healthy scratch in the last four. It makes no sense to have an 18-year-old sitting in the press box, so they send him back to Ontario where he will log big minutes.
