St Louis Blues News

The Blues have activated Carl Gunnarsson (hip) from IR.

Gunnarsson’s activation means that he will be available to make his season debt on Thursday, but it remains to be seen if he will draw into the lineup or not. Over the last two seasons, Gunnarsson has just 15 points (5G / 10A) while averaging less than 15 minutes per game in 119 games with St. Louis.

“There’s a chance” that Torey Krug (ankle) plays on Saturday.

Krug has missed the first 10 games of the regular season but could make his season debut on Saturday. Krug’s return would be a huge boost for the Bruins, who’s blueline is missing Charlie McAvoy, Kevan Miller and Urho Vaakanainen. Krug is coming off of the best season of his career, picking up 14 goals and 45 assists (59 points) in 76 games.

The Blues have sent Carl Gunnarsson (hip) to San Antonio (AHL) for a conditioning stint.

Gunnarsson has missed the first nine games of the season as he works his way back from offseason hip surgery. The Blues had ruled him out until November, so the veteran defenseman appears to be right on track in his recovery. He will stay on the conditioning stint through the weekend and could make his season debut with the Blues next week.

Buchnevich is expected to be a healthy scratch on Tuesday.

Buchnevich has two goals and one assist in five games this season and it looks like he’ll come out of the lineup for Cody McLeod on Tuesday. The Rangers have not confirmed that he’ll be scratched, but he was totally off the power-play and rotated on the fourth line in Monday’s practice.

Krug will miss at least three weeks with a left ankle injury.

Krug suffered an ankle injury in the Bruins preseason finale and will be in a walking boot for three weeks. Krug will be re-evaluated after that period of time and his injury could leave the door open for rookie Urho Vaakanainen to make the opening night roster.

Krug is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Krug was forced to leave the Bruins’ final preseason game with a lower-body injury, but head coach Bruce Cassidy did not have an update on his status. Consider Krug day-to-day until the Bruins release an official timetable. This puts his status for the Bruins’ season-opener in jeopardy.
