Derek Ryan has signed a two-year ($900,000 AAV) contract extension with Edmonton.

Ryan had 13 goals, seven assists, 92 SOG, 28 PIMs and a +11 plus/minus through 80 games in 2022-23 with the Edmonton Oilers and has signed a two-year, $900,000 AAV contract extension on Tuesday. The 36-year-old centre has played in 500 career NHL games, scoring 76 goals and 191 points.

Ryan (concussion) will return to the Oilers lineup on Tuesday.

Ryan has missed the last two games with a concussion that he suffered in a collision with Mark Scheifele on November 16th. Ryan will be back on the Oilers' fourth line and comes into Tuesday with one goal and a minus-10 rating in 15 games.

The Flames have signed Derek Ryan to a three-year, $9.375M ($3.125M AAV) contract.

Ryan was a late-bloomer, spending three years in the WHL, four years at the University of Alberta, three years in Austria, one in Sweden and one in the AHL before making it to the NHL. Ryan had 15 goals and 23 assists (38 points) in 80 games with the Hurricanes. Ryan was top-10 in the NHL in face-off percentage last year and can also chip-in on the power-play. The 30-year-old has ties to Flames head coach Bill Peters, who was just let go in Carolina.
