Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron set to return to lineup
The B’s are getting a bump.
Patrice Bergeron is set to return to the Boston Bruins lineup Thursday night against the New York Islanders, head coach Bruce Cassidy said Wednesday.
Bergeron left partway through a Feb. 8th game against the Pittsburgh Penguins after colliding with Sidney Crosby.
In the three games without them, they went 1-2 beating the Ottawa Senators 2-0, while dropping losses to the Carolina Hurricanes 6-0, and the New York Rangers 2-1 in the shootout last night.
Losing your top centre is never a great scenario, let alone with it be paired with Brad Marchand being suspended for attacking Pens goaltender Tristan Jarry.
Bergeron, 36, has appeared in 43 games this season scoring 12 goals and 35 points.
After visiting the Island Thursday, the Bruins take on the Senators on the road Saturday. On Monday, the Colorado Avalanche visit the Garden before the B’s embark on a six-game Western Conference swing taking them to Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Vegas and Columbus.
Heading into Wednesday night’s games, Boston holds the fourth spot in the Atlantic Division posting a 27-16-4 record.
