Fantasy Hockey: Week 20 Streaming Targets 🎯
Using both our Weekly Schedule tool and the newly created Weekly Strength of Schedule Tool, I have identified which teams are the best to target for streaming players this week.
Below you will find some of the top streaming options for the week under 50 percent owned in Yahoo! fantasy leagues. Streaming a roster spot or two can help you maximize the number of games each week and increase your chances of winning the week.
If your team is already playoff-bound, check out our approach to maximizing games played to help you prepare for the fantasy hockey playoffs.
Five game week for the red hot Calgary Flames
Dating back to January 24th, the Calgary Flames have gone 15-2-1 and no team has scored more than the 77 goals they have during that span. As the only team with a five-game schedule, including a meeting with the Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings, you can expect the Flames to continue their high-scoring ways.
Blake Coleman – CGY – LW/RW (34% Owned)
Coleman has struggled to find consistency this season and has recorded points in consecutive games only four times in his first 47 games. However, he seems to have turned a corner, with points in five of his last six games (2G / 4A / 6PTS). Coleman has made a name for himself as a high-volume shooter and has continued to stay consistent in that area with the Flames this season, averaging 3.0 shots per game. His hit totals have dipped slightly in the last two seasons but he’s still averaging 2.1 hits per game this year and can be a great add moving forward, especially in leagues that count hits.
Mikael Backlund – CGY – C/RW (17% Owned)
Centring a line with the previously mentioned Coleman, Backlund has been producing at a similar clip. With five points in his last six (1G / 4A) and 11 points in his last 12 (2G / 9A), Backlund has been consistently chipping in on the second line in Calgary and should help you this week even if it’s just a result of the extra games played.
Mason Marchment – FLA – LW/RW (26% Owned)
Marchment, who is a point per game player this season (30GP / 13G / 18A / 31PTS), has recently been moved up to the top line with Aleksander Barkov. Yet, he’s still available in almost three-quarters of fantasy leagues. Marchment is averaging under 15 minutes per night in his last 13 games but with 20 points (11G / 9A) in that span, including a six-point night (2G / 4A), it’s hard not to be impressed with his production. Marchment probably won’t maintain his point-per-game pace but as long as he continues to get top-line opportunities, he can be a valuable player for your team the rest of the way.
Anton Lundell – FLA – C (25% Owned)
Lundell is having a terrific rookie season and, coupled with a five-point game, has 14 points (5G / 9A) in his last 13 games. As a result of the endless offensive depth on the Florida Panthers, the majority of Lundell’s production has impressively come while playing on the third line and seeing limited powerplay deployment. Lundell’s best days are yet to come but with two of four games this week against the Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers, he should be able to improve on his already inspiring rookie season.
Nicholas Robertson – TOR – LW (2% Owned)
Robertson is the younger brother of Dallas Stars’ standout Jason Robertson. He was a second-round pick in 2019 and has had most of the early part of his career derailed by injuries. However, he’s 100 percent right now and is currently skating on the second line with John Tavares and William Nylander. He scored his first career NHL goal vs. the Canucks on Saturday and playing in Toronto’s top-6 makes him an intriguing add in the short term. According to our Weekly Strength of Schedule, the Maple Leafs have the easiest schedule this week, with games against Columbus, Seattle, Arizona and Buffalo.
Frederick Gaudreau – MIN – C (3% Owned)
Gaudreau is available in nearly every league and the Wild have the second easiest schedule of the week. It’s unclear how long it will last, but Gaudreau moved up to the top line between Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello on Sunday. If that’s a configuration that the Wild will move forward with, Gaudreau would see a bump in ice-time and the production could follow. In his last 17 games, Gaudreau has scored six goals with seven assists (13 points).
