Jordan Martinook, Mattias Janmark and Anton Khudobin among 14 players placed on waivers
It’s a veteran filled list on the waiver wire on Friday, including Jordan Martinook, Mattias Janmark, Anton Khudobin and Andreas Johnsson.
The St. Louis Blues were the most active with waivers today, sending forwards Martin Frk, Matthew Highmore, and Klim Kostin down to the AHL.
All nine players placed on waivers on Thursday cleared.
Here is the full list of players waived on Friday:
Jordan Martinook, LW (Carolina)
Anton Khudobin, G (Dallas)
Mattias Janmark, C (Edmonton)
Dmitri Samorukov, D (Edmonton)
Steven Fogarty, C (Minnesota)
Andreas Johnsson, LW (New Jersey)
Brian Pinho, C (New Jersey)
Kevin Connauton, D (Philadelphia)
Troy Grosenick, G (Philadelphia)
Martin Frk, RW (St. Louis)
Matthew Highmore, C (St. Louis)
Klim Kostin, C (St. Louis)
Justin Dowling, C (Vancouver)
Johnathan Kovacevic, D (Winnipeg)
Martinook, 30, has spent the previous four seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes but might find himself in the AHL for the first time since the 2014-15 season when he was with the Arizona Coyotes. In 59 games last season, he had six goals, nine assists, and 15 points.
Khudobin, 36, is in the final season of a three-year deal with a $3,333,333 cap hit with the Dallas Stars that hasn’t aged well at all throughout the entirety of the contract. He signed that deal after a strong playoff run to the Stanley Cup Final in the 2020 playoffs but has played just 41 games since signing the deal as Jake Oettinger has taken over the crease in Dallas.
Janmark, 29, signed a one year, $1.25 million contract with the Edmonton Oilers in the offseason after six seasons with the Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, and Vegas Golden Knights. He had nine goals, 16 assists, and 25 points in 67 games with Vegas last season, and will likely serve as center depth for Edmonton if he clears.
Three players have been claimed off waivers so far this fall:
- Jonas Johansson (from COL to ARI)
- Magnus Hellberg (from SEA to OTT)
- Radim Zohorna (from PIT to CGY)
