LIVE BLOG: All the moves as NHL teams trim their rosters
It’s roster cuts day around the NHL and we’ve already had a number of things shakedown. New contracts will be signed and a number of players will head to the waiver wire.

6 p.m. EST
The New York Islanders have made deals for defenseman Zdeno Chara and forward Zach Parise, CapFriendly reported Sunday afternoon.
The deals for the two veterans are the same: they carry a cap hit of $750,000 and performance bonus’ of the same amount.
The two had reportedly in the offseason, but the deals weren’t made official until today.
5:45 p.m. EST
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed veteran defender Erik Gustafsson to a one-year deal worth $800k, according to Frank Seravalli.
Gustafsson broke into the NHL with the Blackhawks in 2015-16 and had a 60-point season for the team in 2018-19. Over the past two seasons, he’s played for Chicago, Calgary, Philadelphia, and Montreal.
3:30 p.m. EST
The Vancouver Canucks have traded defenceman Olli Juolevi to the Flordia Panthers for defenceman Noah Juulsen and forward Juho Lammikko, the club announced Sunday.
Juolevi, a 2016 fifth overall pick, has been a bust at the NHL level only appearing in 23 games scoring two goals and three points.
Movement from players at the top of that class isn’t unhead of, however. Patrik Laine (2nd), Pierre-Luc Dubois (3rd), Alex Nylander (8th), Sergachev (9th), Logan Brown (11th), Jake Bean (13th) and Luke Kunin (15) are all with teams that didn’t draft them.
Juulsen, 24, is now on his third NHL team after being taken 26th overall in 2015 and has appeared in 48 NHL games scoring two goals and eight points. In the AHL, he’s appeared in 52 games scoring one goal and 10 points.
Lammikko, meanwhile, has appeared in 84 NHL games over the last two seasons scoring four goals and 11 points. He’s also spent a fair share of time in the AHL scoring 20 goals and 57 points in 143 games. he was a 2014 3rd round pick of the Panthers.

The Chicago Blackhawks have placed Collin Delia and Malcolm Subban on waivers, The Athletic’s Scott Powers reported.
2:05 p.m. EST
We have our first set of moves. The Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Kyle Turris and defenceman William Lagesson on waivers while assigning goaltender Stuart Skinner to the AHL.
The Columbus Blue Jackets, meanwhile, have waived defencemen Gabriel Carlsson, Mikko Lehtonen and forward Kevin Stenlund on waivers.
The Vancouver Canucks, meanwhile, have placed defenceman Travis Hamonic on waivers. He had yet to attend training camp. They also placed Josh Bailey, Philip Di Giuseppe and Madison Bowey on waivers.
1:55 p.m. EST
Mika Zibanejad inked an eight-year contract extension with the Rangers, while Jack Johnson signed a one-year deal with the Colorado Avalanche.
Jimmy Vesey has found himself a home for the 2021-22 season as he has inked a one-year, $800k deal with the New Jersey Devils, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.
