2024 NHL Western Conference All-Stars announced

The NHL has announced their selections for the Western Conference for the 2023 NHL All-Star Weekend.

NHL Hockey Operations has selected one player from each team in both the Eastern and Western Conference to make up the first 32 players to join the event. The remaining 12 players will be determined through a fan vote that began after the rosters were announced, and will carry on until January 11th. Another vote will be held from January 13th to 18th to determine four participants for the skills competition.

The selections in the Western Conference include Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks, Oliver Bjorkstrand of the Seattle Kraken, Jack Eichel of the Vegas Golden Knights, Filip Forsberg of the Nashville Predators, Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets, Tomas Hertl of the San Jose Sharks, Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks, Kirill Kaprizov of the Minnesota Wild, Clayton Keller of the Arizona Coyotes, Elias Lindholm of the Calgary Flames, Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche, Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers, Jake Oettinger of the Dallas Stars, Cam Talbot of the Los Angeles Kings, Robert Thomas of the St. Louis Blues, and Frank Vatrano of the Anaheim Ducks.

The selections who will make their first All-Star appearances include rookie phenom Bedard with 15 goals and 33 points in 37 games, Vatrano with 18 goals and 27 points in 37 games, Oettinger with an 11-7-2 record and a .901% save percentage, Bjorkstrand with 11 goals and 29 points in 38 games, and Thomas with 15 goals and 39 points in 36 games.

The most notable omissions include J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson of the Canucks, Mikko Rantanen and Cale Makar of the Avalanche, Leon Draisaitl of the Oilers, and Adin Hill of the Golden Knights.

The All-Star Weekend will take place in Toronto from February 1st to 3rd, with the Player Draft happening on Thursday, February 1st at 6 p.m. EST, the Skills Competition being held on Friday, February 2nd at 7 p.m. EST, and the actual game occurring on Saturday February 3rd at 3 p.m. EST.
