2025 NHL Stadium Series jerseys revealed for Red Wings, Blue Jackets
The National Hockey League and Fanatics, the league’s official outfitter, unveiled the jerseys for the 2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings.
The Blue Jackets’ uniform pays tribute to the rich history of Ohio and Columbus,” the NHL wrote in its press release. “The design draws inspiration from the uniforms worn by the Union Army, with the jersey featuring several military-like details.
Some of the details include a front creaset featuring the Blue Jackets’ cannon, which is fired after every goal during a Columbus home game. Another detail is a new “CBJ” shoulder patch, marked by two crossed hockey sticks.
“The Red Wings’ uniform celebrates the world-renowned automotive industry and hockey culture of Detroit,” the NHL said. “The design incorporates several auto-inspired elements.”
Those elements include a front crest with “Detroit” written out, inspired by “automotive insignias,” the league said. There are also speed stripes on the sleeves and socks, similar to a racing car.
The game will be the 43rd outdoor regular-season contest in NHL history, and will be played at the historic Ohio Stadium in Columbus, home of the Ohio State Buckeyes’ football team.
Both jerseys include the 2025 NHL Stadium Series designation on the inside back hem as “a commemorative touch to this marquee matchup,” the league said.
The Blue Jackets are 21-17-6 with 48 points, four in the Metropolitan Division and currently holding on to the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They’re 8-2-0 in their last 10 games.
Meanwhile, the Red Wings are 20-19-4 with 44 points, seventh in the Atlantic Division and four points back of the Wild Card. They’re 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.
Columbus will host the San Jose Sharks on Thursday, while Detroit flies down to Florida to take on the Panthers the same night.
