The 12 men’s ice hockey teams participating in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy will be announcing the initial six players named to their rosters. Here at Daily Faceoff, we’ll put all the news for you in one place with our roster tracker.

The teams will use this initial roster as a preview for what their roster will look like for the tournament in February 2026, with the remaining players set to be announced at a later date.

The 2026 tournament will mark the first time in 12 years that NHL players will participate at the Winter Olympics, last doing so in Sochi, Russia in 2014. They had previously missed the 2018 tournament due to a disagreement between the NHL and the IIHF and the 2022 tournament due to COVID-19 concerns.

Entering the 2026 tournament, Finland will be looking to defend their gold medal win in the 2022 tournament. Russia, which is banned from the 2026 tournament due to its country’s military assault on Ukraine, won silver in the tournament, while Slovakia won bronze.

However, Canada is also defending their own international glory, having won the last four best-on-best tournaments. They captured gold in the 2010 and 2014 Olympics, as well as the 2016 World Cup of Hockey and the 4 Nations Face-Off held earlier this year.
