2026 Winter Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament schedule in Milano Cortina

As Daily Faceoff president Frank Seravalli has reported, the 2026 Winter Olympic men’s ice hockey schedule has been released.

12 teams in total will battle it out which include Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and Italy in Group A. Finland, Germany, Czechia and Denmark in Group B and Russia, Slovakia, United States and Latvia in Group C. Russia and Belarus are currently banned from competing in international championships through the IIHF’s 2025 program due to their military aggression in Ukraine and the IIHF will make a ruling regarding their participation in 2025.

The 2026 Winter Olympics is set to take place in Milan, Italy beginning with the preliminary round starting February 11th and running through till February 15. Men’s Qualification Playoffs: Feb. 17, Men’s Quarters: Feb. 18, Men’s Semifinals: Fri. Feb. 20, Men’s Bronze: Sat. Feb. 21 and Men’s Gold Medal Game: Sun. Feb. 22.

Back in Feb. 2024, the IIHF announced that an agreement had been reached with the National Hockey League (NHL) for a break in its regular season to allow the league’s players to participate in the Olympics for the first time since 2014. During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, it was Canada who defeated Sweden to capture their ninth gold medal.
