Ducks’ Brock McGinn to miss 7-9 months; Isac Lundestrom out day-to-day

The Anaheim Ducks announced pair of injuries to their forward core on Tuesday.

Left winger Brock McGinn will be sidelined for the next seven-to-nine months after undergoing successful knee surgery. McGinn has been out of the Ducks’ lineup for the past 13 games, his second extended absence this season after a lower-body ailment kept him sidelined into early December.

Limited to 26 appearances in 2024-25, McGinn has recorded four goals and four assists for eight points with a plus-one rating. Skating in his third season with the Ducks, the 2024-25 campaign marks the second-straight season in which McGinn has missed major playing time after he was out of the lineup for the final 29 games a year ago after undergoing back surgery.

Acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in March 2023, McGinn has seen 534 career contests counting stops with the Carolina Hurricanes, Penguins, and Ducks in which he has tallied 80 goals and 78 assists for 158 points. McGinn was originally chosen 47th overall by the Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Per PuckPedia, the 30-year-old Fergus, Ont., native is in the final year of a four-year pact that carries a $2.75-million annual average value.

The Ducks also announced Tuesday that center Isac Lundestrom will be sidelined on a day-to-day basis due to a lower-body injury. On the season, the 25-year-old Swedish-born forward has collected seven points counting four goals and three assists through 44 appearances.

Chosen 23rd overall in the 2018 NHL Draft, Lundestrom has skated part of seven seasons and 302 career contests with Anaheim in which he has recorded 35 goals and 41 assists for 76 points. In 2021-22, Lundestrom reached a career high of 29 points counting 16 goals and 13 assists coming in 80 outings.

On the season, Anaheim is 18-22-6 and nine points back of the Calgary Flames for the Western Conference’s second wildcard position.
