The Anaheim Ducks announced Saturday that the club has signed defenseman Ian Moore to a two-year, entry-level contract set to begin in the current campaign.

Moore was originally chosen by the Ducks in the third round of the 2020 NHL Draft.

Through 32 appearances this season with the NCAA’s Harvard Crimson, the budding blue-liner picked up three goals and 11 assists for 14 points coupled with a minus-five rating and 14 penalty minutes. In all, Moore spent four seasons with the Crimson, including the past two where he served as captain. Of note, in his freshman campaign, Moore tallied 15 points counting two goals and 13 assists through 32 outings to earn a spot on the ECAC’s All-Rookie Team. Through four seasons with the Crimson, the 6-foot-3 rearguard totaled nine goals and 47 assists for 56 points in 122 career contests.

Prior to committing to Harvard, More spent a single season with the USHL’s Chicago Steel where in 35 games he posted 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points to rank third in team scoring among defensemen. Moore then added another three points in eight postseason appearances en route to the Clark Cup championship.

The 23-year-old native of Concord, Mass., has also represented the United States in international competition, most recently at the 2022 World Juniors where he registered one point and a plus-one rating in five games.

In March, Moore joined the Ducks’ minor-league club, the San Diego Gulls, on an amateur tryout basis. In the ensuing nine games, he has recorded one goal and four assists for five points alongside two penalty minutes and a minus-one mark.

For the Ducks, on the season the club owns a 35-36-8 record and 78 points. With three games remaining in their regular-season schedule, the Ducks return to action Sunday against the Colorado Avalanche.
