The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Jansen Harkins to a two-year contract worth an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000 in 2024-25 and $800,000 in 2025-26.

The contract was first reported by The Athletic’s Eric Stephens.

Harkins was claimed off waivers and spent the 2023-24 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. While with Pittsburgh, Harkins appeared in 45 games and tallied four assists. While in the AHL, Harkins racked up five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 14 games.

The 27-year-old underwent hand surgery back in March after injuring his hand in a fight with then-Washington Capitals forward Beck Malenstyn.

Prior to his tenure with the Penguins, Harkins spent six seasons with the Winnipeg Jets organization. Harkins was initially selected No. 47 overall in the 2015 NHL Draft by Winnipeg and made his NHL debut in 2019-20. He has collected 13 goals and 31 points in 199 games over parts of six career seasons with the Penguins and Jets. Harkins has appeared in four Stanley Cup Playoff contests, scoring just one goal.

Before turning pro, Harkins spent time in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Prince George Cougars and established himself as a solid junior player. His best offensive production came in 2015 when he tallied 20 goals and 59 assists for 79 points in 70 games and was named to the CHL Top Prospects Game. Throughout his career in Prince George, the Cleveland, Ohio product racked up 75 goals and 167 assists for 242 points in 275 games.

On a personal note, Harkins is the son of former Calgary Flames and Hartford Whalers forward Todd Harkins, who notched three goals and six points in 48 career NHL games in the early 1990s.
