The Anaheim Ducks have announced that they have signed forward Nico Myatovic to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Myatovic will join the Ducks’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the San Diego Gulls on an Amateur Tryout (ATO) for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

The Prince George, British Columbia product was drafted No. 33 overall by the Ducks in the 2023 NHL Draft. Myatovic spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Seattle Thunderbirds where he notched nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 34 games and ranked second among Thunderbirds skaters in points per game with 0.88. Myatovic missed three months of action due to a broken leg.

During his draft year, Myatovic emerged as a net-front threat for the Thunderbirds and played on a loaded roster that saw Arizona Coyotes rookie Dylan Guenther, Winnipeg Jets prospect Brad Lambert and Chicago Blackhawks rookie Kevin Korchinski on the roster. Myatovic recorded 30 goals and 30 assists for 60 points in 67 games and added four goals and seven points in 19 WHL Playoff contests en route to a WHL Championship. Myatovic scored the WHL Championship-clinching goal in game 5 against the Winnipeg Ice. During the 2023 KIA Memorial Cup, hosted in Kamloops, Myatovic tallied one goal and four points in five games as the Thunderbirds fell to the Quebec Remparts in the Memorial Cup Final.

Mytavoic will join the Gulls to continue his development. San Diego currently sits ninth in the Pacific Division with a 22-30-8-0 record and 52 points through 60 games. They have 12 games remaining on the 2023-24 schedule. The Gulls will face off against the Tuscon Roadrunners on Friday and Saturday in back-to-back contests.
