Ducks sign Tim Washe to four-year extension
The Anaheim Ducks have agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension with forward Tim Washe, the club announced Saturday afternoon. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the deal carries an annual cap hit of $2.25 million.
Washe, 25, skated in 39 games with the Ducks during the 2025-26 regular season, collecting two goals and five points. The 6’3″, left-shot center also appeared in 12 playoff games with the Ducks in 2026, recording one assist.
The Ducks originally signed Washe in April of 2025 as an undrafted free agent from Western Michigan University. The Detroit product still has one year remaining on his entry-level deal, which carries an $882,500 NHL cap hit; he had been slated to become a restricted free agent in 2027.
Washe signed his entry-level contract with the Ducks at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season and appeared in his first two NHL games with the club that year. He began the 2025-26 campaign with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, scoring 14 goals and 27 points in 36 games and being named an AHL All-Star; the Ducks subsequently recalled Washe, using him as their primary fourth-line center down the stretch.
Washe ranked second among NHL rookies (and led all Ducks players) with a faceoff win percentage of 58.0 in 2025-26. He played in every postseason game as the Ducks defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Round 1 before falling to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference semifinals.
A product of the Detroit Victory Honda AAA system, Washe played one season of junior hockey with the BCHL’s Nanaimo Clippers before heading to Western Michigan in 2020. He spent five seasons with the Broncos, developing from a defense-first bottom-six forward in his early years into an all-around impact player and captain as an upperclassman.
While wearing the captain’s C at Western Michigan in 2024-25, Washe racked up 16 goals and 38 points in 42 games and led the Broncos to their first Frozen Four appearance. He scored four points in the NCAA Tournament as the Broncos won their first-ever D1 men’s hockey national championship.
