Standing atop the NHL with 112 points and backed by Vezina Trophy favorite Connor Hellebuyck, the Winnipeg Jets are poised to make noise in the postseason.

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Colby Cohen highlighted what has made the Jets successful this season and if the team has enough scoring depth to go on a deep run.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Where have you come out on the Jets throughout the season? I was someone who was kind of like, ‘Okay, this is maybe just a little bit of a heater.’ I think my preseason prediction on the Jets was that they would be a wildcard team or just outside of the wildcard picture. Obviously, Hellebuyck being Hellebuyck does a lot, but you don’t get to be where the Jets are at, which is the top spot in the Western Conference and currently the top spot in the entire NHL, by just having an elite goaltender. There are other things that this team does well. But are they an authentic threat to go deep?

Colby Cohen: With the goaltender at the top of his game, they’re absolutely a threat to go deep. One thing that I like, and is a good thing at this time of year, is their depth scoring. Guys are chipping in. Kyle Connor gets two last night for his 40-goal season, but you also get a contribution from Morgan Barron, Nino Niederreiter, you see the guys who are chipping in with assists. I think that’s always a thing with Winnipeg in that, do they have enough secondary scoring if they get into a series where maybe Hellebuyck isn’t playing as well as we’ve seen? You look at the way that they break out the puck. One of the reasons they don’t have to defend that much is because of how well they get back on pucks and how well they break out pucks. I think that is always a winning formula.
