The Arizona Coyotes have signed goaltender Ivan Prosvetov to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the club announced Sunday morning.

Prosvetov, 24, posted a 16–13–4 record and a .900 save percentage and one shutout in 35 games with the American Hockey League’s Tucson Roadrunners during the 2022–23 regular season. He went 1–2 with an .845 save percentage in three games with the Roadrunners in the 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs.

The six-foot-five, 195-pound goaltender also appeared in seven NHL games with the Coyotes in 2022–23, going 4–3–0 with an .880 save percentage.

The Coyotes originally selected Prosvetov in the fourth round (No. 114 overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. The Moscow, Russia product has appeared in 13 career NHL games with the Coyotes, posting a 4–6–1 record and an .871 save percentage.

Prosvetov went undrafted in 2017 before being selected by the Coyotes after his draft-plus-one season with the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms. He then joined the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit as a 19-year-old in 2018–19, going 36–11–1 with a .910 save percentage and four shutouts.

The Coyotes shifted Prosvetov into their professional ranks in time for the 2019–20 season, which he split between Tucson and the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators. He appeared in his first three NHL games with the Coyotes the following season and drew into three more in 2021–22.

Prosvetov is just one year away from being eligible to become a Group VI unrestricted free agent. The Coyotes signed another 24-year-old goaltender in Matt Villalta earlier in the UFA period to compete for Prosvetov in Tucson during the 2023–24 season.

Both Prosvetov and Villalta are currently behind Karel Vejmelka and Connor Ingram on the Coyotes’ goaltending depth chart. The Coyotes added three goaltenders to their system at the 2023 NHL Draft: Michael Hrabal (second round, No. 38 overall), Melker Thelin (fifth round, No. 134 overall), and Carsen Musser (sixth round, No. 166 overall).
