Arizona Coyotes sign Ryan Dzingel, Peter DiLiberatore to pro tryouts
The Arizona Coyotes have signed forward Ryan Dzingel and defenseman Peter DiLiberatore to professional tryout agreements, CapFriendly reported Wednesday afternoon.
Dzingel, 31, previously played with the Coyotes during the 2021–22 season. The 6′ center collected four goals and seven points in 26 games with the Coyotes before closing out the year with the San Jose Sharks. He spent the 2022–23 season in the Carolina Hurricanes organization, playing exclusively with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves.
DiLiberatore, 23, is a 6′ left-handed defenseman who split the 2022–23 season between the Vegas Golden Knights and Pittsburgh Penguins organizations. The Golden Knights sent DiLiberatore and a 2024 third-round pick to the Penguins ahead of the 2023 trade deadline in exchange for forward Teddy Blueger.

The Coyotes are set to embark upon a preseason trip to Australia later this month for a pair of NHL Global Series games against the Los Angeles Kings, meaning they’ll need multiple extra bodies at their training camp.
In highly unusual fashion, the Coyotes are set to participate in three exhibition games in one day this month. On September 23, the Coyotes will face the Kings in Australia while also playing split-squad games against the St. Louis Blues in both St. Louis and Wichita, Kansas.
Dzingel and DiLiberatore are unlikely to be part of the Coyotes’ Australia contingent, which will be primarily made up of the team’s most established and marketable players.
That said, Dzingel has enjoyed a successful NHL career in his own right, collecting 87 goals and 188 points in 404 career games with the Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Hurricanes, Coyotes, and Sharks.
DiLiberatore has yet to find his footing as a professional. The former Quinnipiac University standout racked up 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) in 53 games with the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights in 2021–22 but appeared in both the AHL and ECHL in 2022–23, after which his entry-level NHL contract expired.
The Coyotes finished the 2022–23 season with a 28–40–14 record and 70 points, enough to finish seventh in the Central Division.
