Avalanche acquire Scott Wedgewood from Predators for Justus Annunen, draft pick

The Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators swapped goaltenders on Saturday, with the Avalanche acquiring Scott Wedgewood in exchange for Justus Annunen and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick.

The 32-year-old Wedgewood appeared in five games with the Predators this season, posting a 1-2-1 record with an .878 save percentage (SV%) and 3.69 goals against average (GAA).

In 135 career NHL games between 2015 and 2024, the Brampton, Ont. native has a 49-50-23 record with a .905 SV% and 3.01 GAA with the Predators, Dallas Stars, Arizona Coyotes and New Jersey Devils.

Wedgewood was also a “Black Ace” for the Lightning when they won the Stanley Cup in 2019-20.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Annunen has a 6-4-0 record with a 3.23 GAA and .872 SV% in 11 games with the Avalanche this season. In 29 career NHL games, the Kempele, Finland, native has a 16-9-2 record with a 2.81 GAA and .902 SV%.

Annunen has spent the majority of his professional career with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, going 60-29-19 with a .905 SV% and 2.76 GAA. Annunen was drafted by the Avalanche in the third round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

The Avalanche are 13-11-0 with 26 points, fourth in the Central Division. Despite the slow start, they’re 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

Meanwhile, the Predators are 7-12-5 with 19 points, seventh in the Central Division. Nashville started the season with five straight losses, as well as losing seven of their last nine games.
