With two goals against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night, Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon has become the first NHL player in 2024-25 to reach the 100-point mark.

MacKinnon scored the go-ahead 5-4 goal at 11:55 of the third period in Denver before capping the night off with an empty-netter. The Avalanche won the game 7-4.

MacKinnon is up to 27 goals and 73 assists through just 64 games. This marks the third straight year – and third time in his career – in which he had triple-digit points in a campaign. MacKinnon had a career-best of 140 last year, and 111 in just 71 games in 2022-23.

The 29-year-old hasn’t missed a game yet this year, with an 82-game pace of 128 points. MacKinnon is up to 362 goals and 999 points in his NHL career, meaning his next point will make him the 10th active NHLer to reach the 1,000-point mark.

MacKinnon has spent his entire NHL career with the Avs since going first overall in 2013. He quickly emerged as one of the NHL’s most dangerous point producers, and has registered at least 90 points in each season where he has played at least 70 games dating back to 2017-18. MacKinnon also had 24 points in 20 games en route to a Stanley Cup in 2022, the only one of his career.

MacKinnon has finished as a hart Rophy finalist four times in his NHL career, winning it, and the Ted Lindsay Award, a year ago. MacKinnon is the NHL’s leading scorer again this year, putting him on track to contend for the award once again.

Internationally, MacKinnon won gold at the 2012 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, 2015 World Championship, and, most recently, the 4 Nations Face-Off. MacKinnon took home top player honors after leading the tournament with four goals.
