Betway starting goalie bet of the day: Bet on a heavy workload for Frederik Andersen as red hot Panthers host the Hurricanes in game three
Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!
For the first time in NHL history, the first four games of the conference finals went to overtime, thanks to a late tying goal from Jonathan Marchessault. Vegas would also strike early in the extra frame as Chandler Stephenson’s seventh goal of the playoffs gave the Knights a 2-0 series lead.
Jason Robertson scored his second goal of the series in the second period and for 28 minutes, it looked like that would be the game winner before Marchessault tied it. Aidin Hill continued his fine play in net, making 26 saves on 28 shots to ensure the victory for the Knights.
Game three will take place in Dallas on Tuesday, where the Stars have yet to lose in these playoffs.
In the eastern conference, the Florida Panthers will look to take a commanding 3-0 lead over the Florida Panthers in game three, as the scene shifts to Sunrise. Matthew Tkachuk’s two overtime goals in this series have been the difference in what’s quickly become every analytics fan’s favorite series of the playoffs.
Here is a goalie prop I like for tonight’s game.
Goalie Prop
Frederik Andersen to make over 28.5 saves
With the scene shifting to Florida, I expect the Panthers to turn back into the team that led the NHL in shots during the regular season. Outside of game one’s anomaly due to four overtime periods, Carolina has done a good job suppressing Florida’s shots in regulation, but I expect that to change on home ice.
Florida registered over 30 shots in both regular season home games against the Hurricanes this season and for Carolina to avoid a stranglehold in the series, Andersen will need to be sharp.
