Betway starting goalie bet of the day: Bet on an easier night for Sergei Bobrovsky after game one’s marathon
Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!
Sometimes sports are so poetic. After the sixth-longest game in the history of the NHL on Thursday night, of course the hockey gods gave us another overtime game on Friday.
But instead of a marathon overtime, all our prayers were answered when Brett Howden scored a mere one minute and 35 seconds into the extra frame to give the Golden Knights the 4-3 win and 1-0 series lead. On Thursday night it took 64 shots in overtime to find the game winner. On Friday night, it took one.
Jamie Benn scored with the extra attacker with 1:59 left in regulation to ensure overtime for the Stars. In the four games these two teams have played this year, three of them have now gone to the extra frame.
Roope Hintz continued his dominance, scoring and adding two assists and has leapfrogged Connor McDavid for the playoff scoring lead. William Karlsson scored his sixth and seventh goal for the Knights and now ranks third among active players in goals scored in these playoffs, behind only Hintz and Joe Pavelski.
Game two will take place in Vegas on Sunday.
Saturday will give us more of Carolina and Florida. After Brandon Montour’s monster night on Thursday, he now leads all players in the 2023 playoffs in shots. Which team will respond better after the game one marathon? Here is a goalie bet I like for tonight’s game.
Goalie Prop
Sergei Bobrovsky to make under 31.5 saves
Carolina loves to throw pucks on net and had a whopping 65 in game one, but after such a treacherous grind, I expect game two to be more low event and obviously much shorter. I think last game may have the bookies numbers a bit inflated and I like the under tonight.
Goalie Prop
Adin Hill to make under 27.5 saves at -118.
Hill was again sensational in net for the Knights and made 33 saves on 36 shots. Our record on the playoffs is now 9-8.
