— Chicago Blackhawks (@NHLBlackhawks) May 28, 2024Misiak was taken in the second round, 55th overall, by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Draft. He is known for his hard work and is a perilous forechecker. He is regarded as a solid two-way player, who is just as good at helping his team put the puck in the net as he assists them from keeping it out.
He spent this past season with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League, scoring 23 goals and 47 points in 60 games. The Slovakian winger also scored a goal and an assist in four playoff games, in which the Otters were knocked out of the first round by the Kitchener Rangers.
The 19-year-old made his North American professional debut on April 21, playing with Chicago’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
Misiak came over to the continent last season. After starting off the year with HC Nove Zamky in the top league in Slovakia, he joined the United States Hockey League’s Youngstown Phantoms, scoring 17 points in 27 games. He would help the Phantoms win the Clark Cup.
He has also represented his country on multiple occasions. Misiak has been on the Slovakian roster at each of the past three IIHF World Junior Championships, registering four assists in 11 games.
With the signing, the Blackhawks have 30 standard player contracts signed for next season. According to CapFriendly, Chicago has a little under $33 million in cap space for the 2024-25 campaign.
