Blue Jackets place Yegor Chinakhov on injured reserve; Jet Greaves called up

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced a pair of roster moves Wednesday, adding right winger Yegor Chinakhov to the injured reserve and recalling goaltender Jet Greaves from the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters.

Chinakhov has missed the last seven games with an upper-body injury. On the season, the 23-year-old Russian-born forward has made 21 appearances in which he has collected seven goals and seven assists for 14 points.

Selected 21st overall by Columbus in the 2020 NHL Draft, Chinakhov is skating in his fourth season with the Blue Jackets. He wrapped up the 2023-24 campaign with 29 points counting 16 goals and 13 assists coming in 53 contests. Through 166 career contests, Chinakhov has collected 34 goals and 36 assists for 70 points.

Between the pipes, Greaves joins the Blue Jackets are making 15 appearances with the Monsters this season in which he has posted an 8-4-2 record with a .902 save percentage and 3.21 goals-against average.

A 23-year-old native of Cambridge, Ont., Greaves has previously played 10 contests with the Blue Jackets, split over two seasons, in which he has found the win column three times coupled with a .912 save percentage and 3.44 goals-against average. Greaves recorded his first career NHL victory last December in a performance versus the St. Louis Blues that saw the young goaltender turn aside 41 shots en route to a 5-2 win.

A graduate of the OHL’s Barrie Colts, Greaves signed with the Blue Jackets in 2022 as an undrafted free agent.

Standings 12-13-3 on the season, the Blue Jackets sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with 27 points, but only three points shy of the second wildcard position in the Eastern Conference. The Blue Jackets suffered a 5-3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday and will look to return to the win column on Thursday when the club faces off against the Washington Capitals.
