Blues sign Jake Neighbours to two-year contract extension

St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has signed Jake Neighbours to a two-year, $3.75 million AAV contract extension.

The 22-year-old has scored two goals and three points in six games to start the 2024-25 campaign.

Last season, Neighbours racked up a career-high 27 goals in 77 games.

Neighbours has tallied 36 goals, 17 assists and 51 penalty minutes in 135 regular-season games through his first four seasons with the Blues.

During his rookie season in 2022-23, Neighbours scored six goals and 10 points in 43 games, he added 16 points in 23 games with the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Springfield Thunderbirds. Neighbours then represented Canada at the IIHF World Championships where he tallied five points in 10 games, capturing a gold medal.

The 22-year-old was drafted No. 26 overall by the Blues in the 2020 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut during the 2021-22 season, registering two points in nine games before being returned to the Western Hockey League’s (WHL) Edmonton Oil Kings. That same calendar year, Neighbours captained the Oil Kings to a WHL Championship with 45 points in 30 games and adding 17 points in 19 WHL postseason contests. Neighbours tallied 176 points in 171 games throughout his five-year WHL career.

The 4-2-0 Blues are set to face the Winnipeg Jets tonight in action, the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday and the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
