The Boston Bruins are one of the hottest teams in the NHL to start the new season, and their 12-4-1 record through 17 games has them atop the Atlantic Division and tied for second in the league as a whole.

For the past two decades, the Bruins’ success has largely been predicated upon team defense and goaltending, and while those aspects have been excellent this season, Boston has been one of the best teams at finding the back of the net, as their 64 goals trail only the Carolina Hurricanes among Eastern Conference teams.

Super star winger David Pastrnak has been driving the bus, as his 22 points lead the team by eight, but he’s found an excellent running mate in center Pavel Zacha. After years of Pastrnak terrorizing the league alongside Patrice Bergeron, have the Bruins found another perfect match for the Czech winger?

On Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, host Tyler Yaremchuk and host of The Sheet Jeff Marek discussed why Pastrnak has been able to from incredible chemistry and an elite duo with another center.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Our dynamic duo, we’ll stay focused on last night’s hockey games, and it was the Boston Bruins picking up another victory, 6-2 over the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, and it came off the back of their dynamic duo of David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha, and I don’t think, or I know that this isn’t a team that you can paint in the same brush as the Oilers dynamic duo, or whoever, because even without Pastrnak and Zacha, they are looking like they are a very, very good hockey team. But that duo was great last night. Zacha scores twice, Pastrnak assists on both of them, and with that duo on the ice this year at 5-on-5, you can’t call them a power play merchant or whatever, in 166 minutes with Zacha and Pastrnak together, the Bruins are outscoring their opposition 10-2. Last night was a game where Pastrnak was just excellent, and the Bruins walk out of their with their 12th win of the year in just their 17th game. They are 12-4-1 and sitting at the top of a highly, highly competitive Atlantic Division. To give you a little bit of context on just how tight and competitive that division is, even though the Bruins are off to this amazing start and not a lot of people saw it coming.
