Today on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discussed why the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks are the most interesting teams when it comes to the NHL’s coaching market.

Tyler Yaremchuk: I wanted to ask you, now that there is another opening on the board in Pittsburgh. Give me the three most intriguing openings in the league, from not necessarily like a setup for success or whatever, but just from the perspective of how you are fascinated by how they’re going to go about filling this in, and what direction they’ll go.

Frank Seravalli: I’m going to say that the most interesting in how they’re going to go about filling it is going to be the Boston Bruins. I’m wondering what they’re looking for. They’ve got a lot of positional boxes checked. Do they definitely want an experienced guy? Like you’ve got a goalie in Jeremy Swayman who should bounce back. You should have a top ten defenseman in the league in Charlie McAvoy and a play-driving winger in David Pastrnak.

Frank Seravalli: I think that’s a great opportunity for someone to go in and have a bounce-back year with that team. The Rangers are always interesting. They’re certainly going to be on the list, but after David Carle said no to the Chicago Blackhawks this weekend, I think what their process and how it unfolds from here is truly a wild card. I don’t know that they know what they want to do next, and they’re going to take their time to try and figure that out.

Frank Seravalli: I think one of the things that we’ve learned looking at this coaching carousel as it begins to spin is that there really aren’t a ton of can’t-miss candidates. Like, there are a lot of question marks once you get beyond Mike Sullivan, who’s out there, then David Carle, where do you go next? You’ve got Jay Woodcroft, you’ve got a whole bunch of guys that are in the mix. Peter Laviolette, does he get another job? Where do these guys end up landing? There are tons of openings, and I’d say a lot of interesting candidates.
