The waiver wire saw a bit more action on Sunday than it has recently, as both the Boston Bruins and Minnesota Wild have both placed two centers on waivers.

The Bruins placed centers Patrick Brown and Vinni Lettieri on waivers on Sunday. While there doesn’t appear to be a specified reason for waiving both players, with the Bruins having lost their last eight games in a row, it’s likely just the team looking to shake up their roster along the margins.

Brown has had a mostly quiet stint in the NHL this season, with just 1 assist in 13 games. He also has 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points in 52 games in the AHL with Providence.

Lettieri has fallen a bit under his usual production rates when in the NHL, as he has just 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points in 19 games. He also has 20 goals and 28 assists for 48 points in 46 games with Providence.

The Wild have placed centers Brendan Gaunce and Devin Shore on waivers. However, neither player is being placed on the wire with the intention of being sent down to the Wild’s AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild. Instead, if they clear, they will remain on the roster for the time being and provide Minnesota with some roster flexibility as Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek get closer to returning to the lineup, and once the team signs 2024 12th-overall pick Zeev Buium after the conclusion of his collegiate season.

Gaunce has been between the AHL and NHL this season, with just 1 assist in 12 games with Minnesota, and 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points in 35 games with Iowa.

Shore has spent most of the season with Minnesota, with 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points in 51 games. He also has 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points in 14 games with Iowa.

Should any of the four players be claimed off of waivers on Monday, they can only play with their new NHL club during the regular season, and are ineligible to play in the playoffs due to post-trade deadline rules.
