Boston Bruins reveal special centennial jerseys for 2023–24 season
The Boston Bruins have officially unveiled the three limited-run jerseys they will wear in the 2023–24 season to celebrate the team’s 100th year in the National Hockey League.
After wearing largely unchanged home and away jerseys since the NHL switched to the Reebok Edge design system for all its uniforms in 2007, the Bruins are temporarily deviating from their familiar look in favor of a more retro-inspired theme.
The Bruins plan to wear these new home, road, and alternate jerseys for one year to celebrate their centennial before returning to their primary kits in 2024–25 and beyond.
Both the home black and road white uniforms feature a modified version of the classic “Spoked B” logo that combines elements of its modern and 1980s-era iterations.
The Bruins have also done away with the contrasting shoulder yokes seen on their recent primary jerseys. The centennial uniforms lack any design elements whatsoever on the shoulders and around the collars, save for a commemorative patch on the right shoulder.
As one extra touch, the Bruins have replaced the typical yellow in their colour scheme with a shiny metallic gold on both the home and road jerseys.
The alternate uniform, which has a cream-colored base and does not use the metallic gold, is a spin on the Bruins’ original “Spoked B” jersey, which was introduced in 1949 to commemorate the team’s 25th anniversary. The numbers “19” and “24” inside the crest are a nod to the Bruins’ inaugural year.
