Bruins sign Simon Zajicek to one-year, entry-level contract

The Boston Bruins announced Monday the signing of goaltender Simon Zajicek to a one-year, entry-level contract with a cap hit of $872,500.

The 23-year-old goalie appeared in 29 games for HC Litvinoc of the Czech league, Czech Extralegal, in 2024-25, putting together a 15-13-0 record with a 2.12 goals against average (GAA) and .930 save percentage (SV%).

Zajicek lead the Czech league in save percentage and tied for second with five shutouts. The 6-foot-2 netminder appeared in three playoffs games, posting a .927 SV% and 2.63 GAA.

In 90 career games with HC Litvinov, he posted a 36-48-0 record with a .912 SV% 2.68 GAA.

The Bruins finished the 2024-25 season with a 33-39-10 record and 76 points, last in the Atlantic Division and second last in the Eastern Conference. At one point, the club had a 30-28-8 record and was in the Wild Card hunt, but after trading away several assets at the March 8 Trade Deadline, they lost 10 straight and fell straight to the bottom.

David Pastrnak led the team in all offensive categories, scoring 43 goals and 63 assists for 106 points. Morgan Geekie was second in points with 57, 49 less points than Pastrnak. Geekie scored 33 goals and 24 assists. As for Pavel Zacha, he was second on the club with 33 assists, along with 14 goals and 47 points.

Bruins’ goaltender Jeremy Swayman, fresh off of signing an eight-year, $66 million with a cap hit of $8.25 million, finished with a 22-29-7 with an .892 SV% and 3.11 GAA with four shutouts in 58 appearances. Jones Korpisalo played in 27 games, posting an 11-10-3 record with an .893 SV% and 2.90 GAA and three shutouts.
