Brayden, Luke Schenn become 10th siblings to play 1,000 games

Brayden and Luke Schenn have now become the 10th brother duo in NHL history to play 1,000 games.
The brothers achieved the feat after Brayden Schenn played in his 1,000th game on Thursday as his St. Louis Blues played the Washington Capitals. The game was held in Washington, so there has been no ceremony to honour the achievement, but the Capitals did recognize it during a commercial break.
The Schenns become the 10th pair of brothers to both play 1,000 games in the NHL, joining the likes of the Niedermayers (Scott and Rob), the Sedins (Henrik and Daniel), the Staals (Eric, Jordan and Marc), and the Sutters (Brent and Ron).
The Schenns also become the first set of brothers in the NHL to hit the 1,000 game mark in the same season. Luke played his 1,000th game on October 17th in a game against the Edmonton Oilers.
Both brothers had interesting paths to reaching 1,000 games in the same season. Luke began his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008-09 and was an everyday NHLer for 10 season. But in 2018-19, he was between the NHL and AHL for a couple seasons, and a healthy scratch from time to time. But after back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he returned to being an everyday defenseman again.
Meanwhile, Brayden Schenn began his NHL career in 2009-10 with the Los Angeles Kings, but played only 9 games in the first three seasons. After he was dealt to the Philadelphia Flyers in 2011, he became more of an everyday NHLer and never looked back, even winning a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019.
Brayden has seen his production fall back in recent seasons, but is still doing solid with 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points in 59 games. Luke has never been one to put up points, and has just 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points in 57 games.
Both brothers have also recently found themselves in trade rumours, with some saying that there are teams looking to reunite the brothers. Luke and Brayden have previously played three and a half seasons with each other on the Flyers from 2012 to 2016.
