Bruins’ Hampus Lindholm leaves game vs. Blues with lower-body injury
The Boston Bruins have announced that defenseman Hampus Lindholm will not return to Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Blues due to a lower-body injury.
Lindholm suffered the injury late in the first period of the game after blocking a shot from Blues defenseman Justin Faulk. Lindholm went to the locker room after the blocked shot, and did not return to the bench for the second period, with the Bruins confirming that he wouldn’t return shortly after.
There is currently no word on the specifics and severity of the injury, or when Lindholm is expected to return to the lineup.
Lindholm left the game with just the one blocked shot on his stat sheet in 8:17 of ice time, with the game tied at 0-0 at the time of his departure.
In Lindholm’s absence, both Nikita Zadorov and Mason Lohrei have found themselves alongside Lindholm’s defense partner, Brandon Carlo, so far in the game. With Andrew Peeke also out of the lineup on a week-to-week basis, the Bruins will likely need to call someone up from the AHL if Lindholm misses more time.
Lindholm was off to a solid start to the season, with 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points in 17 games so far this season. He’s also been the Bruins only positive play driver on their blueline this season with a 53.56% 5v5 expected goal share, according to Evolving Hockey.
Lindholm was a former sixth-overall pick of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2012 NHL Draft, and after making his NHL debut in the 2013-14 season, he spent parts of nine seasons with the Ducks. He was then traded to the Bruins at the 2022 trade deadline, and has since played parts of four seasons in Boston.
Lindholm is currently in the third year of an eight-year contract with a $6.5 million contract, one he signed with the team shortly after he was acquired by the team in 2022.
