Bruins’ Patrick Brown, Wild’s Dakota Mermis placed on Nov. 17 waivers
Two players were placed on the NHL waiver wire on Friday.
The Boston Bruins waived forward Patrick Brown while the Minnesota Wild did the same with defenseman Dakota Mermis, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Brown, 31, is scoreless in six games with the Bruins in 2023-24. The undrafted native of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. has 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points in 138 career NHL games in 10 professional hockey seasons with the Bruins, the Ottawa Senators, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes.
In 403 career AHL games, Brown has 63 goals and 91 assists for 154 points with the Charlotte Checkers, the Chicago Wolves and the Henderson Silver Knights.
Brown won an NCAA National Championship with the Boston College Eagles in 2012. He captained the squad during his senior season in 2014.
Mermis, 29, has two goals and three assists in 13 games with the Wild this season. He’s played 40 career games across seven NHL seasons with the Wild, the New Jersey Devils and the Arizona Coyotes.
In 426 career AHL games, Mermis has 21 goals and 116 assists for 137 points with the Springfield Falcons, the Tucson Roadrunners, the Binghamton Devils and the Iowa Wild.
Mermis won a Memorial Cup playing for the Oshawa Generals in 2015.
The Bruins are first in both the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference with a 12-1-2 record through 15 games this season. Boston’s next game is Saturday night at home against the Montreal Canadiens.
Meanwhile, the Wild are 5-8-2, good for sixth in the Western Conference’s Central Division. Minnesota is in Stockholm, Sweden for the NHL’s Global Series, where they’ll face the Senators on Saturday at 11 a.m. EST.
