Bruins place Charlie McAvoy, Mark Kastelic on IR; Hampus Lindholm on LTIR

The Boston Bruins announced a series of transactions Tuesday, placing defenseman Charlie McAvoy and forward Mark Kastelic on Injured Reserve (IR), defenseman Hampus Lindholm on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) and recalling forward Matt Poitras and defender Michael Callahan from the AHL’s Providence Bruins.

The 26-year-old McAvoy has five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 45 games this season. Through 499 career NHL games, the No. 14 overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has 58 goals and 239 assists for 297 points.

Kastelic, 25, has four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 43 games with the Bruins this season. The 6-foot-4 forward is in his fourth NHL season and first with the Bruins, and has scored 18 goals and recorded 19 assists for 37 points and 260 penalty minutes in 187 games with Boston and the Ottawa Senators.

As for Lindholm, the 31-year-old has three goals and four assists for seven points in 17 games. Now in his 15th NHL season, the No. 6 overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has 73 goals and 240 assists for 313 points in 762 career games.

The Bruins are 21-19-5 with 47 points, fourth in the Atlantic Division and first in the Eastern Conference Wild Card. The club is 3-6-1 in their last 10 games.

Forward David Pastrnak leads the team in all offensive categories, scoring 19 goals and 26 assists for 45 points in 45 games. Captain Brad Marchand has 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points in 45 games.

Boston’s next game is Tuesday when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. EST.
