Sabres’ Jordan Greenway to miss most of training camp, Alex Tuch day-to-day

It appears that the Buffalo Sabres have a couple injuries to start off training camp, as wingers Jordan Greenway and Alex Tuch were announced with injuries on Wednesday by general manager Kevyn Adams.
Injuries: Greenway had another core surgery in July. Sounds like he’ll miss most of camp. Ooof. Tuch has a minor thing going and is day to day. #Sabres
— Mike Harrington (@ByMHarrington) September 17, 2025Greenway had a second core surgery in July to help with an injury that he had dealt with during the 2024-25 season, after a setback had occurred during the recovery process. According to Adams, Greenway should be good to go for the start of the regular season, but will miss most of training camp.
Injuries were certainly a problem for Greenway last season, as it kept him to just 34 games. It also appeared to affect his play when he was healthy, as he had just three goals and five assists for eight points in those 34 games, the lowest point total in a single season in his NHL career since his six-game trial as a rookie in 2017-18 with the Minnesota Wild.
Greenway is in the first year of his new two-year contract with a $4 million cap hit.
Tuch also is dealing with an injury, however it’s not nearly as severe as Greenway’s. Tuch’s recovery is merely on a day-to-day basis, and may only cause him to miss the first day of training camp, and still be ready for the Sabres’ first preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets next Monday.
“He may not be out there tomorrow or the next day or two, but nothing significant,” said Adams during the Sabres’ season-opening press conference on Wednesday. “Just a little bit of a minor thing.”
Tuch is coming off another productive season with the Sabres, as he had 36 goals and 31 assists for 67 points in 82 games. While not his most productive season overall, he did tie his career high for goals, also set in 2022-23.
Tuch is entering the final year of his seven-year contract with a $4.75 million cap hit, and is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
These two injuries were announced on top of goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s news, as he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
