The Buffalo Sabres announced Tuesday they signed forward Tyler Kopff to a two-year, entry-level contract that will begin in 2025-26.

The 21-year-old Kopff will spend the rest of the 2024-25 season with the Sabres’ AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, on an amateur tryout (ATO).

The 6-foot-4 forward played college hockey for two seasons with Brown University. In 2024-25, Kopff was second on the team with 28 points in 32 games, leading the school in assists with 19. The Ridgewood, N.J., native had 15 goals and 31 assists for 46 points in 62 career NCAA games.

Before enrolling at Brown, Kopff played two seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Coquitlam Express, scoring 42 goals and 51 assists for 93 points in 107 career games. He also appeared in 12 BCHL playoff games, scoring three goals and recording four assists for seven points.

The Sabres are 28-35-6 with 62 points, last in both the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference, and owners of the fourth-worst record in the NHL. The club is 4-6-0 in their last 10 games, and possess a minus-27 goal differential.

Forward Tage Thompson leads the team in both goals and points, scoring 34 times and recording 60 points in 63 regular-season games. Captain Rasmus Dahlin leads the team with 41 assists, and has the most points for a Buffalo defender, recording 54 in 61 games.

The Sabres’ next game is Tuesday at home against the Ottawa Senators, followed by another home contest against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday. Both games are at 7 p.m. EDT.
