The National Hockey League is going to go virtual, with a super twist.

On Wednesday, the league announced that the league will host the first-ever MultiVersus NHL Face-off on April 14, when the Colorado Avalanche take on the Vegas Golden Knights.

The NHL is partnering with TNT Sports and Warner Bros. Games to give fans another regular-season game with real-time animation.

The game will be broadcast at 3:30 p.m. ET on truTV, as well as Max’s Bleacher Report Sports.

The games will feature many famous characters under the Warners Bros. Discovery brand, including cartoon legends Bugs Bunny, Velma, Shaggy, Steven Universe and Finn the Human, as well as animated members of the Justice League, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Fellow Looney Tunes character, the Tasmanian Devil, will officiate the game.

There has been some gameplay test footage already released, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect later this month.

The MultiVersus concept comes from the free-to-play video game published by Warner Bros. Game and Player First Games, which is set to be officially released on May 28.

The game uses two different types of tracking technologies to create real-time animations. NHL EDGE and Hawk-Eye Innovations optical tracking generate realistic player movements.

Steve Mears and former NHLer Colby Armstrong will be calling the virtual game, also providing analysis during intermissions.

The Golden Knights and Avalanche matchup will also feature a traditional broadcast on TNT, with Kenny Albert, Eddie Olczyk and Brian Boucher on the call.

This is not the first time the NHL has gone virtual. Over the last two seasons, the league has partnered with Disney for two editions of the Big City Greens Classic. The Chicago Blackhawks are set to have their own virtual broadcast, as NBC Sports Chicago will hold an alternative game cast when the Blackhawks take on the Dallas Stars this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
