When the Calgary Flames take on the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, the club will do so without defenseman Kevin Bahl in the lineup, who is considered sidelined with an undisclosed injury.

Facing the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, Bahl exited early in the second period after hitting his head on the glass following a hit by Wild center Jakub Lauko. In all, Bahl closed out the contest with 10:12 in ice time in which he recorded two blocks and one takeaway, while the Flames held on for a 5-4 road victory.

Flames head coach Ryan Huska indicated that Bahl will be re-evaluated when the club returns to Calgary on Sunday following the conclusion of the team’s two-game road trip.

Skating in his first season with the Flames, Bahl has made 47 appearances in which he has recorded two goals and 12 assists for 14 points with 29 penalty minutes. On the season, Bahl is also averaging 21:18 in ice time, third among Calgary rearguards, behind Rasmus Andersson and MacKenzie Weegar.

Acquired from the New Jersey Devils in the June deal that saw the Flames part with goaltender Jacob Markstrom, Bahl spent the past four campaigns with New Jersey. In all, through 195 career contests, Bahl has tallied six goals and 33 assists for 39 points with 156 penalty minutes.

The 24-year-old native of New Westminster, B.C., was originally chosen 55th overall by the former Arizona Coyotes in the 2018 NHL Draft. Bahl was shipped to the Devils in the December 2019 move that sent 2018 Hart Trophy recipient Taylor Hall to Arizona.

Per PuckPedia, Bahl is in the final year of a two-year pact that carries a $1.05-million annual average value and is eligible to become a restricted free agent in July.

In defeating the Wild on Saturday, the Flames pushed their win streak to three and improved to 24-16-7 for 55 points, three ahead of the Pacific Division rival Vancouver Canucks, to hold the second wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
