Flames’ Martin Pospisil ejected for boarding Blackhawks’ Taylor Hall
A nasty play could lead to some additional discipline for one of the Calgary Flames’ young stars.
During a game against the Chicago Blackhawks, forward Martin Pospisil was handed a five-minute major penalty for boarding opposing forward Taylor Hall. Pospisil was also given a game misconduct for the act.
The incident happened just past the halfway mark of the second period. Hall was carrying the puck into the Flames zone along the boards. Pospisil saw the veteran skater and went to deliver a hit, clearly catching Hall between the numbers, sending him hard into the boards.

— Gino Hard (@GinoHard_) January 14, 2025After a short review, it was determined that the hit was severe enough to warrant an ejection for the 25-year-old.
The Blackhawks were able to score on the power play as Connor Bedard scored his 12th goal of the season.
While it’s too early to tell, there is a possibility that Pospisil might be getting a call from the NHL Department of Player of Safety for his actions. That’s certainly not good news for the Slovakian center, who already has a rap sheet.
Last March, Pospisil was suspended three games for boarding Seattle Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn. Not even a month later, Pospisil was given the gate for elbowing Josh Morrisey of the Winnipeg Jets in the head, though that didn’t lead to any supplemental discipline.
Pospisil has played in all 42 of the Flames’ games this season. The former fourth-round pick has two goals and 10 assists for 12 points so far this year. During his rookie season in 2023-24, he potted eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points.
The Flames (20-14-7) are fifth in the Pacific Division, one point back of the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.
