The Calgary Flames have announced that defenseman Rasmus Andersson has been released from the hospital after getting hit by a vehicle on Wednesday night.

Calgary didn’t specify what type of vehicle, but Andersson was riding on a scooter on the way to dinner in Detroit last night. A tweet from the team’s account said he will remain with the club and is listed as day-to-day with no specifics on any injuries.

Andersson is having one of the best seasons of his career, already hitting a career-high with nine goals and is on pace for his second consecutive 50-point season. The 26-year-old is i nthe third season of a deal that’ll pay him $4.55 million per season until 2026.

Andersson has been a fixture on the top pairing with Noah Hanifin this season. Among the 19 defensive pairings with at least 500 minutes played this season, Hanifin and Andersson have an expected goals percentage of 54 percent over 50 games. Andersson is fourth on the Flames with a goals above replacement of 6.1 and a wins above replacement of 1.0, good for second behind physical blueliner Nikita Zadorov on the Flames.

Calgary’s meeting with Detroit will be the team’s first second game since the NHL all-star break. The Flames lost 5-4 in overtime to the Rangers on Monday, so they’ll look to rebound against a Detroit team that’s on pace to miss the post-season. They’ll then have bouts with Buffalo on Saturday, Ottawa on Monday and Detroit again next Thursday, all three games the Flames should be able to win.

The Flames are currently the first team below the wild-card cutoff, but can overtake Minnesota with a victory on Thursday. The Flames sit six points behind Vegas in first, with the top four teams in the Pacific sitting having a two-point spread.
