On Saturday at The Sphere in Las Vegas, the Calgary Flames took Luke Misa in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft, No. 150 overall.

Misa spent the 2023-24 regular season with the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) where he compiled 26 goals and 55 assists for 81 points in 66 games. Misa ranked third among Steelheads skaters in goals and first in points.

The 18-year-old has made a household name with hiis fast pace, skating and playmaking abilities. He possesses strong edges and puck control which was evident at the CHL Top Prospects testing combine as he scored within the agility weave. Without the puck, Misa shows the same amount of pace and intensity.

Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis, rated Misa as the No. 65 best prospect.

“Misa has speed that kills and creates his own breakaways as often as anyone. When he uses his speed to create chances, he’s so difficult to beat – but it’s about consistently using that to his advantage. He’s a breakaway machine – got at least one in all of my live viewings this year. From an overall standpoint, Misa has performed much better than I expected this year after watching him closely over the past few years. I expect him to transform into a Ryan McLeod-style player.”

Misa joins Henry Mews, Trevor Hoskin, Kirill Zarubin, Jacob Battaglia, Zayne Parekh, Matvei Gridin and Andrew Basha as the 2024 selections so far. The Flames will select next at pick No. 170
