Flames waive Walker Duehr
The Calgary Flames placed right winger Walker Duehr on waivers Tuesday, reports Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
Tuesday’s transaction marks the second time in 2024-25 that Duehr has been placed on waivers. In early October, Duehr cleared waivers and was assigned to the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers.
Through 16 appearances with the Flames this season, Duehr has recorded one assist alongside a minus-six rating. The 27-year-old Sioux Falls, S.D., native has split time at the AHL level this season, where through 20 contests with the Wranglers he has approached point-per-game production in registering 11 goals with eight assists.
A graduate of the NCAA’s Minnesota State Mavericks, Duehr’s success at the collegiate level was underscored by four consecutive regular season championships from 2017-21. Duehr later signed with Calgary in 2021 as an undrafted free agent. In the ensuing years, Duehr has spent part of four seasons with the Flames, totaling 84 appearances in which he has collected nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points, underscored by his 11-point finish through 27 games in 2022-23.
Duehr has also skated part of five seasons in the AHL, amounting to 127 career contests in which he has notched 37 goals and 32 assists for 69 points.
Per PuckPedia, Duehr is in the second-year of a two-year agreement that carries an $825,000 annual average value. Duehr can become a restricted free agent this coming offseason.
For the Flames, the squad sits 22-16-7 on the season and is holding down the second wildcard position in the Western Conference with 51 points, a lone point ahead of the Pacific Division rival Vancouver Canucks as well as the St. Louis Blues. On the heels of Saturday’s 3-1 road victory over the Western Conference-leading Winnipeg Jets, the Flames will look to push their win streak to two games when the club returns to the ice Thursday to take on the Buffalo Sabres.
