Canada announces roster for 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase

Hockey Canada has announced their camp roster for the upcoming World Junior Summer Showcase which will be held in Plymouth, Michigan from July 26-August 3 at USA Hockey Arena.

The showcase tournament will consist of the USA, Canada, Sweden and Finland.

In total, four goaltenders, 13 defensemen and 25 forwards have been invited to Canada’s summer showcase team.

Among the players announced the team consists of 17 first-round draft picks such as Toronto Maple Leafs’ prospect and OHL Champion Easton Cowan, Anaheim Ducks third overall pick Beckett Sennecke, San Jose Sharks’ Sam Dickinson, Calgary Flames’ Zayne Parekh, Columbus Blue Jackets’ Cayden Lindstrom, Ottawa Senators’ Carter Yakemchuk, Utah Hockey Clubs’ Tij Iginla, Seattle Krakens’ Berkly Catton and more.

“We are thrilled for the opportunity to host summer camps across our Program of Excellence this year and gain valuable insights into the development of our up-and-coming athletes,” said senior vice-president of high performance and hockey operations Scott Salmond. “The athletes will gain experience in the operations of our program ahead of the 2024 U17 World Challenge, the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the highly anticipated 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa.”

It should be noted that San Jose Sharks 2024 first-overall pick Macklin Celebrini was extended an invite to join the team but is unable to participate. While 2026 projected No. 1 overall pick Gavin McKenna was not invited as he will be suiting up for Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

The club is also highlighted by 2025 NHL Draft prospects Malcolm Spence of the Erie Otters, Porter Martone of the Mississauga Steelheads, Moncton Wildcats forward Vincent Collard and Prince George Cougars goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen.
