While the 4 Nations Face-Off has wrapped up, it’s time for NHL clubs to get back together and get ready for their weekend slate of games.

On Friday, Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet said Elias Pettersson’s status is day-to-day following an injury sustained at the 4 Nations.

Tocchet also mentioned that defenseman Quinn Hughes will also be out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Both Pettersson and Hughes left the ice shortly after today’s practice began.

Pettersson appeared in three games for Sweden and was held pointless, while Hughes, who at one point was being rumoured to make the trip out to Boston for the Championship game did not appear in any games due to injury.

Frank Seravalli spoke on Pettersson’s play during the tournament on Friday’s episode of Daily Faceoff Live stating, “He played two shifts in the third period. I think it significantly damages his trade value. I think the rest of the league was kind of looking at this tournament like, ‘Let’s get him out of the Vancouver bubble. Let’s get him out of that situation and see if playing with his countrymen, maybe some familiarity, does he find his confidence again?’ And not only did he not find his confidence, I think in some ways he displayed a confidence that was so badly shaken with the way he threw pucks away, the way he flubbed on shots.”

Pettersson has tallied 11 goals and 23 assists for 34 points in 49 games this season with Vancouver.

Hughes on the other hand has amassed 14 goals and 45 assists for 59 points to sit first in team scoring and second among defensemen league-wide, only four points behind Canada’s Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche.
